The scheme will create, restore and enhance woodlands.
A funding programme for projects that connect people and communities to the national, regional and local heritage of the UK.
The fund aims to reverse habitat loss and improve the condition of Welsh peatlands.
The grant scheme provides funding to restore peatlands in the uplands and lowlands of England.
The scheme helps developments demonstrate that they do no harm, so that they can go ahead. The methods created by Natural England use the latest evidence and bespoke catchment calculators to assess the site’s current nutrient status and the likely impact of any new development. This allows competent authorities and developers to identify the level of mitigation required to cancel out the additional nutrient pollution expected from a particular project.
The fund supports on-the-ground peatland restoration activities. Restoring peatlands is one of the most effective ways of locking in carbon; offering a clear nature-based solution to both the climate crisis and biodiversity loss.
The Peatland Code is a voluntary standard for UK peatland projects wishing to market the climate benefit of restoration. The Peatland Code provides assurance and clarity for business and other investors in peatland restoration projects through independent validation and verification. The Peatland Code works on the basis that during restoration, carbon savings are made through rapid emissions reductions.
The fund aims to catalyse action at a scale to protect and restore Scotland’s biodiversity on land and sea. It is a competitive fund launched in July 2021, which specifically encourages applicants with projects that restore wildlife and habitats on land and sea and address the twin crises of biodiversity loss and climate change.
Set lists of Capital Works are available to support the delivery of beneficial environmental outcomes under the following three themes: carbon, water, and landscape and pollinators.
The scheme is aimed at farmers and other land managers to encourage planting of small areas of trees on land which is agriculturally improved or low environmental value in Wales.
