This detailed site assessment handbook is a complete guide to surveying land prior to woodland creation, to gather the information you need to plant the right trees in the right place. It is intended to be used alongside the Woodland Trust’s Woodland Creation Guide. It provides guidance on assessing the landscape, soil type, geology, water features, existing trees and other habitats on the site, presence of other species, historic features, public access, etc.
