Habitat Creation and Management for Pollinators

Summary

Building on two decades of pollinator research by the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology, this free e-book aims to advise farmers and other landowners how to create habitat to support pollinating bees on their land. It covers the lifecycle needs of different types of bees, the plant species and seed mixes that can best support bees on farmland, guidance as to where on the farm to create pollinator habitat and how much will be required, and the practicalities of when and how to sow pollinator seed mixes, and how to manage the problems of excessive soil fertility and weed pressure associated with farmland. It also briefly discusses costs and funding options.
