Common Standards Monitoring Guidance (Coastal, Freshwater, Lowland grassland, Lowland heathland, Lowland wetland, Marine, Upland, Woodland)

Summary

This website hosts a set of documents that provide guidance on how to assess the ecological condition of the different habitats found in the UK, based on factors such as the presence of ‘indicator’ plant species. It can be used to assess habitat condition as part of a ground-truthing exercise, before any NbS interventions go ahead, and also for monitoring changes in condition post-intervention. See the Agile ground-truthing guidance document for further details. Most of the guidance was developed around 2004, though some updates have taken place.
